OVERVIEW
The George Washington Carver OUTDOOR SCHOOL, Inc. is a non-profit, tax exempt, community based, health promotion, environmental awareness enrichment program.  The OUTDOOR SCHOOL was started in 1990, by Jawara Kasimu-Graham, a registered pharmacist and natural health awareness lecturer.  Over the years, it has grown from providing day trips, to occasional weekend overnight camping trips, to sponsoring year-round activities, including our annual Spring and Summer camps.  Now the OUTDOOR SCHOOL offers a variety of environmental programs for youths, boys and girls, between the ages of 7 - 17.
  PHILOSOPHY
The philosophy of the OUTDOOR SCHOOL is inspired by the life of Dr. George Washington Carver. Our motto, "Respect yourself, respect others, and respect Nature", summarizes the philosophy of the OUTDOOR SCHOOL.
  NATURE KNOWS BEST
Let the elements (earth, wind, fire and water) guide you to a healthier body, mind and spirit.
Live in harmony with the cycles (day/night, lunar, and solar).
Acknowledge our relationship with the kingdoms ( mineral, plant, animal, and human).

Cultural and historical adaptations of nationally recognized environmental curriculum are used in our programs to make our activities more relevant to our youth. There are two year round programs. The Explorers are youth between 9-12 years old, involved in a variety of environmental and cultural awareness activities. The Pathfinders are high school students involved in life skills development, environmental awareness programs, and community service projects. We also conduct a highly acclaimed Spring Break Environmental Camp and Summer Cultural Enrichment Camp. Both camps are always fun, educational and family oriented.
The OUTDOOR SCHOOL is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), tax -exempt, community based program. All gifts, contributions and donations are greatly appreciated.  Remember all contributions are tax deductible.
